iPSCs Pass the Test in Non-human Primate model

Researchers detail their assessment of the autologous transplantation of Rhesus macaque induced pluripotent stem cells and their derivatives as a relevant means to model their clinical application.

Mini retinas develop light-sensitive photoreceptors in the lab

Light-sensitive photoreceptors have been created in the lab for the first time from stem cells.

iPSC-derived Lung Cells with Regenerative and Reparative Capabilities

An improved differentiation strategy allows the production of iPSC-derived lung cells with improved regenerative and reparative potential.

Understanding Gene Expression after Engraftment of iPSC-Derived Cells

Authors show that astrocyte progenitors engraft into the spinal column and differentiate into astrocytes, survival long term and may have great utility in therapy and disease modelling

Adenoviral iPSCs in the Treatment of Deficits in HD Model

Adenovirally generated induced pluripotent stem cells mediate a preservation of motor function or behavioral recovery after transplantation in a mouse model of Huntington’s Disease

Another Step Forward for Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Treatment for HIV

While antiviral therapy for AIDS has been successful, new strategies are required to remove the virus from remaining cellular reservoirs. The laboratory of Dan S. Kaufman have now created an engineered pluripotent stem cell derived immune cell to target the suppression of HIV replication. The groups in vitro analyses finds that their engineered cells are more effective than non-engineered, and in vivo analyses shows some promise for the future. Overall, engineering strategies such as this may be the future of patient-specific anti-viral therapeutics.

  • Will long term treatment with NK cells abolish HIV infection?
  • What other strategies can we adapt to target HIV?
  • Is this strategy a viable option for many HIV sufferers?
