Wnt5a-mediated Regulation of Adult-born Hippocampal Neurons
A new study led by Lorena Varela‐Nallar (Universidad Andres Bello, Santiago, Chile) recently established Wnt5a as a neurogenic factor that promotes neuronal differentiation and morphological development of adult‐born neurons in the hippocampus. Arredondo et al. suggest that Wnt5a signals through CaMKII to induce neuronal differentiation and induces dendritic development of new-born neurons through Wnt/JNK and Wnt/CaMKII pathways.
