Stem Cell Platform for Evaluation of Nanoplastics

A plethora of plastic types, particle sizes, and a lack of reliable models combine to make the study of environmental plastic pollution on human health a challenging task. Now, researchers led by Miodrag Stojkovic (SPEBO Medical Fertility Hospital, Leskovac, Serbia) describe a new platform to evaluate gene changes and signaling pathways altered in response to the exposure of preimplantation human embryos and human induced pluripotent stem cells to nanosized polystyrenes.
