Neuroimaging of Stroke Patients After MNC Treatment

A recent STEM CELLS Translational Medicine article from researchers led by Muhammad E. Haque (University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, TX, USA) reports the results of a non-randomized clinical trial that employed three‐dimensional anatomical and diffusion tensor imaging to assess the consequences of bone marrow mononuclear cell (MNC) transplantation in ischemic stroke patients. Haque et al. discovered that transplanted patients display improvements in white matter-injury after one year – a finding that supports further randomized clinical trials.
