iPSC Models of Glial Dysfunction

A new STEM CELLS review article from the lab of Jari Koistinaho (University of Helsinki/University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland) summarizes recent advances in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)‐based modeling to explore glial cell involvement in neurodegenerative diseases. As glial cells have a crucial role in brain functions and are strongly affected in neurodegenerative diseases, Rõlova et al. note that any information regarding their role may accelerate the development of novel therapies for these diseases.
