Controlling COVID‐19-related Cytokine Storm

In a new STEM CELLS article from researchers led by Khalid Shah (Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA, USA), Song et al. present an overview and perspectives regarding severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) induced inflammatory dysfunction and the potential of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-mediated immunomodulation for the prevention and treatment of COVID‐19 related pulmonary disease. This new article provides cutting edge knowledge on the emerging role of MSCs in the fight against COVID‐19 and will impact the development of innovative therapies for COVID‐19 patients.
