Collagenase-free Methods for Tissue SVF Isolation

The tissue stromal vascular fraction of adipose tissue, a heterogeneous cell population containing adipose‐derived stem cells, has been successfully applied in translational studies and clinical trials. In a recent STEM CELLS Translational Medicine review, researchers led by Gabriele Toietta (IRCCS - Regina Elena National Cancer Institute, Rome, Italy) describe and discuss the effective, alternative, and recognized methods for obtaining cell‐ and tissue‐therapy products with minimal manipulation. Trivisonno et al. report that the optimization of these methods may offer unprecedented opportunities to bring effective regenerative therapies at the point of care in a widely variable application group in the wound, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and plastic‐reconstructive fields.
