ASCs Ensure Enhanced Fat Graft Retention

Adipose‐derived stromal cells are currently being applied in hundreds of clinical trials for a wide range of applications. A new study from researchers led by Stig‐Frederik T. Kølle (Stemform, Copenhagen, Denmark) recently demonstrated that adipose‐derived stromal cells (ASCs) significantly improved the ability of fat grafts to retain their volume compared with conventional fat grafting. Furthermore, ASC administration was safe and clinical outcomes were noticeably improved. Overall, these results, published recently in STEM CELLS Translational Medicine, are likely transferable to most soft tissue augmentations and may be beneficial to a broad spectrum of patients.
