STEM CELLS (founded in 1983), the world’s first journal devoted to this fast-paced field of research, was founded at the dawn of stem cell research and emerged as a pioneering journal under the leadership of Martin Murphy, and its founding editors Donald Metcalf, Laszlo G. Lajtha, and Fumimaro Takaku. Despite facing skepticism and controversy when hematopoietic stem cells were confined to the laboratory bench, far from the clinic, the journal’s founders persisted. STEM CELLS evolved into a cornerstone of stem cell research, shaping the field with influential publications, fostering collaboration, and championing scientific integrity.

STEM CELLS Translational Medicine (SCTM) (founded in 2011), serves as the “Sister Journal” to STEM CELLS to bridge bench science and clinical applications. Launched with the support of California’s Stem Cell Agency and IQVIA, the journals worked in tandem to accelerate translational science, advancing stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine by encouraging collaborations and facilitating the rapid sharing of knowledge among researchers, clinicians, and engineers. Together, the journals have accelerated the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinical therapies. Under the leadership of Founding Editor-in-Chief Anthony Atala, SCTM continues to advance regenerative medicine.

Blood Science is an international single blind, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research, reviews and news in the field of clinical and experimental hematology, covers the topics on molecular biology, physiology, pathophysiology and clinical applications of blood cells or non-cellular blood components. Blood Science is jointly hosted by Chinese Medical Association and Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and supported by Chinese Association for Blood Sciences (CABS). Blood Science is also supported by “Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM Journals”. It is also endorsed by State Key Laboratory of Experimental hematology of China and National Clinical Research Center for Blood Diseases of China.
