Pro‐Resolving Lipid Mediators and Receptors in Stem Cells

A recent STEM CELLS Translational Medicine review article from the laboratory of Mario Romano (University of Chieti‐Pescara, Italy) summarizes our current knowledge on specialized pro‐resolving lipid mediators (SPMs) in stem cells, with a special focus on biosynthetic pathways, receptors, and bioactivity. SPMs represent a leading class of molecules that regulate the resolution of inflammation and promote tissue/organ repair. Recent evidence suggests the presence of these mediators and their receptors in various stem cells, suggesting that SPMs may be involved in the immunomodulatory, anti‐inflammatory, and pro‐healing properties of stem cells.
